Kona Surf Film Festival

Since 2003 the Kona Surf Film Festival has been an exhibition of surf films from around the world, a benefactor of the big island community and beyond, and a grassroots event that has kept the surf cinema stoke alive. Check the site to see some past events, our current films, and to submit your movie!

The Kona Surf Film Festival is a creation of Kona local Chad Campbell and his friends & family.  Chad, a surfer and filmmaker himself, founded the Festival in 2003 as a means of bringing together Hawaii’s surfing family for a communal love of all things surf!  The Festival has always been a forum for independent filmmakers to showcase their labors of love to a receptive audience hungry for epic visuals, engaging stories, exotic locations, and thrilling soundtracks.  Additionally, each year the Fest benefits the surfing community on the Big Island and beyond.

The Fest has raised money for various organizations including Kulana Huli Honua, the Betty Kanuha Foundation, Protect Kohanaiki Ohana, and the Surfrider Foundation.  Chad now partners with The Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows, who helps to coordinate and host the event.

Kona Boys is proud to be an ongoing sponsor of the Kona Surf Film Festival.
